A one-eyed goat is the new attraction in Assam. Born with a rare defect called cyclopia, the goat has only one eye, one ear, and no nose besides other deformities.
The condition is a result of a rare anomaly that occurs when the two hemispheres of the brain don’t separate during the development in the womb, The Sun reports.
Born last week, the kid with a massive eye wouldn’t have survived beyond few days as predicted by vets, but it has defied claims to live.
As reported by Metro News, Mukhuri Das, the owner of the one-eyed goat, was shocked to see the little miracle, as he likes to call it. The owner is also thrilled with the fact that the baby goat has made the family famous as people are visiting their place to catch a glimpse. Moreover, considering the rarity of the new arrival, villagers have even started workshipping the goat.
“So many people are coming to our place to see this baby goat. We are happy that it’s making us famous,” he said.
The owner has assumed full responsibility of the goat and has been quoted saying, “It might be something from God that the baby goat was born in our house. It’s my responsibility to take care of it. I have been feeding it like a normal goat.”
The poor goat has numerous other defects. While its upper and lower lips are strangely small, the eyelashes, eyelids are missing. Before this, cyclopia has been found in other animals like cows, cats, horses, pigs, and even dusky sharks. As reported by The Sun, recently a mutant piglet was born with an elephant trunk on its face, and no hair at all.
