Tests that confirm Covid-19 and Preventive Measures

The Contagious Covid-19 might cause Restrained Respiratory Illness. Elderly persons and those who are already affected by common cold are most likely to get severe illness. The Outbreak had just begun back in December 2019 and has already brought humanity to the greatest threat of all time.

Symptoms of Covid-19

The symptoms of Corona Virus include Severe Fever, Tiredness and Dry cold. Other symptoms might also include ‘Dyspnea’ (Shortness of breath), Physical Aches & pains and ‘Pharyngitis’ (Sore throat). Few cases might also experience Nausea, diarrhoea and runny nose. There are some important tests to be taken before the confirmation.

Emergency test sign includes the following symptoms

  • Difficulties in breathing
  • Repeated pain and pressure in the chest
  • Inability to arouse
  • Bluish lips and face

Preventive Measures of Covid-19

As we all know, Prevention is better than cure. Here’s a few measures to inhibit ourselves from the virus outbreak.

  • Self-isolation is a must thing to do in cases of Zoonotic Diseases
  • Usage of Safety Pollution Masks can prevent viral infection
  • Wash your hands with Alcohol present Soaps and Sanitizers
  • Avoid Gathering in public places
  • The quarantine prevents the outbreak of virus in public places
  • Practice Physical Distancing
  • Avoid Smoking

Covid-19 Tests

CT Scans

Chest CT scan can sometimes help in the identification and characterization of disease-causing pathogens that are present in the lungs. This test is done to classify the abnormalities caused by the virus on the respiratory tissues of the body.

Studies have examined that CT is 98% sensitive to Covid-19. In Epidemic areas,         Chest CT scans are considered as the essential tool for the current detection of Covid-19 Virus.

Blood tests & RIDT

Blood tests can also help in the detection of antibodies that are produced in the body by the virtue of the infection. This test helps in identification of the pathogen and the determination of the symptoms that the affected person has been experiencing.

RIDT (Rapid Influenza Diagnosis Test) can also help in the identification of the Virus. RIDT techniques that are available now can provide results in a clinically relevant time frame, i.e., less than 30-45 minutes, which is an effective advantage.

Laboratory Tests:

The trivial tests that are done in laboratories for the identification of the virus are, Molecular tests, which involves in searching for the evidence of effective infection and   Serology tests, which searches for earlier infections by detecting the antibodies produced.

Vaccination and Drug Development

Finding a vaccine for Corona Virus has become a Public Health Importance. Although no vaccine has been completely developed so far for the Covid-19, Public Health Agencies and Research laboratories around the globe are engaged in developing such a vaccine and multiple attempts are going on to complete the clinical trials of the vaccines on test subjects.

More than 20 vaccines are in development at this moment. Out of which, one has begun human trials, before testing them for safety and effectiveness of the vaccine on animal subjects, unusually. The rest of the vaccines are at the animal testing stage and the results of the human testing are most likely expected to be released soon.

Unfortunately, there are already four coronaviruses spreading among humans and no vaccination has been developed so far. Scientists are also investigating whether the vaccination developed for Pneumonia could cure Covid-19.

Drug development

Covid-19 Drug Development Research Process could help in the regulation of the Coronavirus outbreak. It is an attempt to develop a Preventive Vaccine that would contain the severe outbreak of the virus. Numerous Drugs are under development and testing for the treatment of the Virus. Few drugs are at their various testing phases, and the rest of the drugs are at their preclinical phases.

After the development of drugs and preclinical testing, the vaccine should endure three phases of human testing before being submitted to the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for approval.

The First vaccine developed in China is expected to be equipped by the end of April 2020. China has officially approved the use of an anti-viral drug for the treatment of coronavirus named, Favilavir. This particular drug has shown minimal side effects while testing it on 70 patients.

A lot of other experimental drugs are being tested on animal subjects to examine their immunity responses. Rather than developing new vaccines, few Pharmaceutical companies are getting involved in investigating the existing medicines for the treatment of the virus, which could also provide the expected outcome.

We Can Fight This Together

Even though Covid-19 had brought us thousands of ailments and sufferings thus far, it had also taught us millions of examples that humanity still lives within all of us. We’ve witnessed nearly thousands of Medical Facilities and Faculties are volunteering themselves to help the Community across the affected regions, which requires the greatest strength of all time, Courage.
