Presenting Sleepless Nights With Kapil by Abijit Ganguly – a perfect closing act. The stand-up comedian had last month accused Kiku Sharda of The Kapil Sharma Show to have used one of his famous jokes in an act during the episode that featured women’s national cricket team players Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, Veda Krishnamurthy, and Harmanpreet Kaur.
Responding to the charge, Kiku had said that the joke came out of the brainstorming sessions the ‘big’ team has before every episode. He added that it may have been a possibility that the writers came up with the same idea on their own or they heard it somewhere. The comedian admitted that the team uses popular SMS or Whatsapp jokes and that they can’t keep a track of who cracked what joke when. Well, we think that coming up with the same idea just after two weeks the original version was released is a little strange. And if you can admit to be using ‘Whatspp jokes’, why is it so hard for you to accept that this particular joke on Indian bowlers was indeed lifted and give the original writer his due.
A simple Facebook post by Abijit Ganguly, bringing to light the unfair act, turned into a controversy soon after ‘Kapilians’ realised that their beloved star was being attacked for… what? Well, yes, plagiarism! And soon began what we know best – trolling. The comic released another video yesterday talking about all the hate and drama that was thrown at him after the post went viral.
Here’s the video:
The fact that his post went viral and that Kiku Sharda actually had to acknowledge it applauds the power of social media, but at the same time, it also highlights how opinions can be extremely different on the simplest of things and ways people resort to in order to prove their point.
