
It should be noted that the introduction of Aadhar Card was formerly proposed by the Congress government. But the BJP team criticized it to a large extent. But after Narendra Modi became the head of the government, he realized the benefits of Aadhar Card and made it mandatory for several different things.
Few things about Aadhar Card:

- The Aadhar card contains a unique identification number issued by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) of Government of India.

- It will serve as a proof of identity across India.

- The biometric details of the person such as fingerprints, iris-scan and photograph will be recorded in it.

- It is applicable for all ages and there is no need to renew from time to time.
- It can be applied for free of cost.
List of things when Aadhar Card is needed:
The Aadhar Card was already a must for:
- Public Distribution Schemes (PDS), i.e., in ration shops
- For claiming the LPG subsidy
- Pension schemes under the National Social Assistance Program.
- Employee’s Provident Fund scheme
- Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY)
Additionally, the following inclusions are done. The Aadhar Card is necessary to:
- Link the PAN card, for filing Income Tax returns. From July 1, any PAN card not linked to Aadhar will become invalid.
- Get a new mobile phone connection, where the number would be linked to Aadhar by next year.
- Apply or renew the driving license from October this year.
- Obtain degree certificates for the students.
- Receive benefits under Midday Meal Scheme and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Scheme
- Claim benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for constructing houses.
- Pregnance women seeking benefits under Maternity Benefit Programme and the Integrated Child Development Services to receive cash allowance, free medicines and nutrition support.
- In Tamil Nadu, Aadhar card is a must for registering a new vehicle.
- Avail benefits under Ujjwala Scheme for prevention, rescue and rehabilitation of trafficked women and children, the Swadhar Greh scheme for the empowerment of women in dire socio-economic circumstances, that comes under the Women and Child Development Ministry.
