Piyush Chawla

He is one of India’s most recognized leg spinners and has earned a name for him throughout the world. He has been the reason for some crucial wins for India during his playing time. Although he has great skills his lack of consistency and form made sure it was not in the game for long. He was let go by Kolkata this year and it was expected that he might not get selected this year for IPL. To everyone’s surprise, they were a big tug of war between Punjab, Delhi, and Chennai. In the end, Piyush was bought by CSK for 6.75 CR. From someone who was not even expected to be selected for the upcoming IPL to being bought after a fight for 6.75 CR was a great shock during the auction.

Natan Coulter Nile

Over the past 10 months, he has not played a single T20 match thanks to his injuries. But his T20 record speaks for itself with 130 wickets from 108 matches. At the end of the auction, he was bought by the Mumbai Indians for a total of 8 CR. During the auction, there was a fight between the IPL rivals CSK and MI for this player but in the end, MI bagged this player. Josh Hazelwood

IPL auction was more about the Australian pace bowlers than anything else. After letting of Nathan Coulter Nile for MI, CSK decider to go for Josh Hazelwood. He has established himself as an excellent test bowler but in the shorter version, he has still not found his place. Josh played his last T20 match well before 2016 so it has become 3 years since.

This is majorly to do the fact that his lines were not so great on the shorter version and batsmen found it easy to score large runs against him. It can be CSK’s desperate need for a pace bowler or the confidence they had in identifying talents they went and successfully got him for his base price of 2 cr. Josh was not expected to be sold like no other team but CSK was interested in him, so this buy surely came as a surprise from CSK
